What a brand book is and why you need one
A brand book is a document that records how your business should look: logo, colors, fonts and the rules for using them. You may also hear it called brand guidelines or a style guide.
You need it for consistency. Without rules, every new design comes out slightly different: the shade is off, the font is swapped, the logo is stretched. Customers see scattered materials and remember your business less well.
A brand book solves this simply. A designer, a print shop, a social media specialist or the contractor building your website opens one document and finds the answers to every styling question. You don’t have to explain the same things every time.
The logo is the mark itself, and the brand book is the rules it lives by. If you don’t have a mark yet, start with a logo.
When a brand book is really worth it
A brand book is worth it when different people make your materials, or when you plan to order them more than once. It saves time on explanations and cuts unnecessary revisions.
- You’re ordering a website. The designer takes colors and fonts from the document, and the site matches your other materials.
- Different contractors make your materials. Everyone follows the same rules, and the results look consistent.
- You run social media. Posts, covers and avatars stay recognizable.
- You print business cards or brochures. The print shop needs only one file.
If all you need is a mark, a logo is enough. If you need everything at once, build the project as a website and brand together.
What’s included in a brand book
The brand book is a 16–24 page document: logo usage rules, palette, fonts, style and examples of application. The length depends on how many usage cases we need to show.
Logo usage rules
How to place the logo on light and dark backgrounds, how much clear space to leave, what the minimum size is and what not to do. This protects the mark from accidental distortion.
Colors and fonts
Your brand palette, with primary and secondary colors, and font pairings for headings and body text. Details, such as the color formats we list, are agreed with you at the start of the work.
Style and examples of application
What your business’s visual language looks like: how graphics are used and how materials are laid out. The examples show the rules in action, so they are easy to repeat without a designer.
How brand book work goes
A brand book takes 7–10 business days from the moment you hand over your materials, and it goes in five steps.
- Materials You hand over your finished logo and briefly tell us about your business.
- Structure We decide which sections your document needs.
- Document design We lay out the rules, palette, fonts and examples.
- Revisions You review the result and we make adjustments.
- Handoff You receive your finished brand book.
Every stage is reviewed and approved on our side before it reaches you. You have one point of contact for the whole project.
What a brand book costs and how long it takes
A brand book takes 7–10 business days from the moment we receive your materials.
The price depends on your goal: the length of the document, the number of application examples and deadlines. Here is how it works: a 15–20 minute brief, then a quote, and once you approve it, the price is fixed in the contract.
- Price and timeline are fixed in the contract before work begins.
- Payment is in stages.
- Length of the document: 16–24 pages.
- What you need: a finished logo. If you don’t have one, order a logo or put everything together in the Brand & Website project.

Brand book, logo and brand identity: what’s the difference?
A logo is the mark. A brand identity is how all of your business materials look. A brand book is the document where the rules of that identity are written down.
- Logo — a mark and a custom wordmark. You need it first.
- Brand identity — the colors, fonts and presentation that make your materials recognizable.
- Brand book — the rulebook for your brand identity. You need it so the style doesn’t drift.
If you’re starting from scratch, order in sequence: logo first, then the brand book. Or choose a website and brand in one project, where everything is built as one whole. A brand book also helps when you order a business website: colors and fonts come straight from the document.
Brand book questions

Does the brand book include ready-made avatars, covers and a business card?
No: a brand book is a rulebook with examples of application, not finished materials.
An avatar, covers for two social networks, three post templates, a business card and an email signature are part of the starter kit in the Brand & Website package.
Can I order a brand book on its own, without a website?
Yes. A brand book is a standalone service, and you don’t need to order a website with it.
You can order a website later, or right away in the Brand & Website package.
How much does a brand book cost?
The price depends on your goal. We give you a quote after a short brief and fix it in the contract.
Payment in stages. Tell us about your project
Which is the better value: a standalone brand book or a package with a website and logo?
If you need a website, a logo and a brand book, the Brand & Website package is the better value: all the elements are built as one whole, under one contract.
If you need only a brand book for a finished logo, order it separately.
I’m in the US. Can I order a brand book from you?
Yes. We work with clients in the US, Europe and other countries, in English and Russian.
We agree on a payment method that works for you when we sign the contract.
How do I reach you, and how fast do you reply?
Message us on Telegram @ararwebstudio or email ararwebstudio@gmail.com. We reply within one business day.
You can communicate by messenger, and you have one point of contact for the whole project.
